The Place Pestalozzi located in the center of Yverdon-les-Bains is the daily theater of abundant and warm human activity. The numerous centers of interest such as the castle, the temple, or even the cafes, shops, weekly markets and festivals make this place an essential crossroads of Yverdon-les-Bains, centered on the well-being of its inhabitants and their links with the city.
For these reasons, as well as to remain in line with the medieval character of the square, I decided to work with wood for the construction of the lamp posts.
Material still widely used for the construction of outdoor structures, larch wood is locally present in Switzerland. It will naturally age and evolve over time without maintenance and will not lose any of its structural qualities.
Realizing a wooden pole was for me the opportunity to complete these traditional architectural facades with noble and warm materials, like the activities and the inhabitants who enliven the Pestalozzi square everyday.
